Dark Delightful Dreams

Dark Delightful Dreams

Lucky for you
My dreams never come true
Because if they did
You would be dead
Because all I dream
Is the end of you
You, and those empty eyes
You, and your crippling lies
All I dream
Is to see those eyes shut
Shut tight
Those lies
Corrupting you from within
Your very dreams

  1. To me, this is one of the finest poems on this blog. The owning of the hate. The reveling in the anger. The acknowledgment of the dark side of the soul without apology, without excuses. I strive for this kind of honesty - the catharsis that is available only with the revelation. With regards to its place in the trilogy, DDD is a focusing of the anger first expressed in Generating; a narrowing in, so to speak. I don't envy the person this poem is speaking to, if indeed there is one, but I respect the honest hatred expressed here. Conversely, this poem leads right into One Voice because love and hatred are so very closely aligned. As we know, the opposite of love is not hate: its indifference. And DDD is definitely not about indifference!

    1. Wow, "one of the finest"... I can't begin to thank you enough for such a comment. I was particularly nervous about this one because of how dark I got and how I've never really done so before. It's more than reassuring to see that I did a pretty good job tackling a section of the emotional spectrum I don't often express.

  2. I think this type of expression is particularly difficult to navigate when, as in One Voice, you see yourself as a weilder of love. You did a beautiful job of conveying all the delicious darkness.
